Man charged over 1997 city rape

A man is due to go on trial accused of raping a woman in a West Yorkshire city more than a decade ago.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the 63-year-old is accused of attacking the woman in Leeds city centre on October 1997.

The victim was aged 19 when the attack is alleged to have happened.

Police said the man, from the South Yorkshire area, was due to appear before Leeds Crown Court later on Tuesday.
