Pair in court over toddler death

A man and a woman have appeared in court in connection with the death of a two-year-old girl in Huddersfield.

Zahbeena Navasrka and Subhan Anwar, of Riddings Road, Sheepridge, are charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and child neglect.

The pair, both 21, were arrested after the child died in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary on Thursday night.

They were remanded in custody by Huddersfield magistrates until a further hearing on 19 May.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the child's death was reported to police by staff at the hospital.
